This policy explains what information the SoundBooster: Volume Booster app (“SoundBooster” or the “App”) handles, why, and the choices you have. The App is developed by Apptinz (“we”, “us”).
- The App does not need an account, and we do not run servers that collect your data.
- Your music, playlists and settings stay on your device.
- The App shows ads through Google AdMob. Google may collect device identifiers and usage data to show and measure ads, as described below.
- We do not sell your personal information.
1. Information processed on your device only
The following is handled locally by the App and is not sent to us or anyone else:
- Audio settings – boost level, safe limit, equalizer and effect values, volume lock, language and similar preferences.
- Music files – if you allow access to audio files, the App reads songs stored on your device so you can play them in its built-in player. Files are not uploaded or copied anywhere.
- Playlists you create, stored as references to songs on your device.
- Now-playing information – if you grant Notification Access, the App reads the title, artist, artwork, source app and playback state (playing or paused) of media playing in other music apps. It uses this to show and control the track in the player bar and the App’s notification, and to apply the boost and equalizer to the app that is actually playing, switching them off for apps that are paused. This is kept in memory only while the App runs. The App does not read, store or send the content of your other notifications.
- Home screen widgets – the Volume Booster and Equalizer widgets show your current boost level and EQ preset from the App’s settings. The background opacity you choose for each widget is stored on your device.
- Device information shown on the “Device info” screen (such as model, Android version, memory, storage, screen, battery and audio sample rate). It is only displayed to you.
If Android backup is turned on for your device, Android may include the App’s settings and playlists in your personal Google backup. That backup is managed by Google under your Google account, not by us.
2. Feedback you send us
“Send feedback” in Settings opens your own email app with your message filled in. Nothing is sent until you send it from your email app. When you do, we receive your message and your email address and use them only to reply to you and improve the App. You can ask us to delete your emails at any time.
3. Advertising (Google AdMob)
Unless you buy “Remove ads”, the App is supported by ads from Google AdMob: banners on the main screen and in the music library, native ads (labelled “Ad”) in the music library and Settings, a full-screen ad after a speaker-cleaner run, and a full-screen ad when you return to the App from the background. To show, limit and measure ads and to prevent fraud, Google’s SDK may collect and process:
- your device’s advertising ID and other device identifiers;
- IP address, which may be used to estimate approximate location;
- device and app information (such as model, operating system, language and app version);
- ad interactions (such as ads viewed or tapped) and diagnostic data.
This data is collected by Google, not by us. Learn more in Google’s Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
Your ad choices
- Consent: where the law requires it (for example in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland), the App asks for your consent with Google’s consent form before ads are requested. In those regions you can change your choice at any time in Settings → Ad privacy options.
- Personalized ads: you can reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of ads personalization, in your device settings (for example Settings → Google → Ads or Settings → Privacy → Ads, depending on your device).
4. In-app purchases (Google Play)
You can remove ads with a monthly subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase. Payments are handled entirely by Google Play under your Google account; we never see or store your card or payment details. The App only receives from Google Play which product you own and a purchase token, and keeps that on your device so ads stay off. Google’s handling of payment data is described in the Google Payments Privacy Notice.
5. Permissions the App uses
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
Music and audio (READ_MEDIA_AUDIO; READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE on Android 12 and lower) | To list and play songs stored on your device in the built-in player. |
| Notification Access (optional) | To see which music app is playing and what (title, artist, artwork, playing or paused), so the App can show and control it and apply the boost and equalizer to the app that is actually playing. You grant it in system settings; without it the boost still works, applied to all audio output at once. |
Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS) | To show the ongoing boost notification with its controls. |
| Foreground service – media playback | To keep the boost, equalizer, volume lock and music running while you use other apps. |
| Modify audio settings | To apply boost and equalizer effects and to lock the volume. |
| Vibration | For haptic feedback on controls. |
| Visibility of apps with a launcher icon | To show the name of the music app that is playing and open it from the player bar. |
| Internet, network state, advertising ID | Used by Google AdMob to load ads and handle ad consent. |
| Google Play billing | To buy “Remove ads” and to check, on each launch, whether you own it. |
You can revoke optional permissions at any time in your device settings. Some features stop working without them.
6. Sharing and selling
We do not sell, rent or share your personal information. The only third party that receives data from the App is Google: for advertising as described in section 3, and Google Play for purchases as described in section 4.
7. Data retention and deletion
Information the App stores on your device remains until you change it, clear the App’s data or uninstall the App. We do not hold App data on servers, so there is nothing else for us to delete. Feedback emails are kept only as long as needed to handle your request, and we delete them on request. Data collected by Google for advertising is handled under Google’s policies and your Google account and device settings.
8. Security
Your information stays in the App’s private storage on your device, protected by Android’s app sandbox. Ad traffic handled by Google’s SDK is sent over encrypted connections.
9. Children
The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU/UK or privacy laws in California), you may have rights to access, correct, delete or object to the processing of your personal information, and to withdraw consent. For ad data, use the ad choices above or contact Google. For anything else, contact us.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the App changes. The “Last updated” date above shows the current version. Significant changes will be noted in the App’s store listing or in the App.
